J.F. Cook Co., Inc. was founded in 1947 by John F. Cook. John previously
worked for Barcol Overdoors in Rockford, Illinois and came to Milwaukee
to open a new Barcol distributorship. Through John's efforts and engineering
talents, J.F. Cook Co., Inc. became a leader in the Milwaukee market
known for its quality products, electrical engineering capabilities
and ability to solve problematic installations for their customers.
As the garage door business continued to grow
a commercial window division was added in the late 1950' s. Representing
DeVAC aluminum windows the Company covered the State of Wisconsin
replacing old windows in schools, hospitals and many municipal buildings.
These high performance windows were a dramatic improvement to many
buildings in both energy conservation and appearance.
In 1985 J.F. Cook Co., Inc. took on the Overhead Door
Corporation distributorship for the southeastern Wisconsin area.
The Overhead Door Company of Greater Milwaukee was added as a division
of J.F. Cook Co., Inc. covering both the commercial and residential
markets.
Currently J.F. Cook Co., Inc./Overhead Door Company
of Greater Milwaukee represents many major manufacturers. The window
division is the top distributor for TRACO
(Three Rivers Aluminum Company) aluminum windows and doors in the
State of Wisconsin. This division also handles Marvin
wood windows and doors, EFCO storefronts and entrances and Tupelo
Aluminum security screens.
The door division continues to distribute the full
product line from Overhead
Door Corporation including sectional, rolling steel and fast-acting
doors. They also handle American Metal Door sliding service and
fire doors and Milcor telescoping doors.
