Since 1947, the J.F. Cook Co., Inc. has been providing quality windows and doors throughout Southeastern Wisconsin. A few of our notable projects include:


City Hall

City Hall
In 2005, City Hall was designated a National Historic Landmark and shortly thereafter, an extensive 3 year restoration of the exterior building began, quickly making the project one of keen national interest and the most historically significant project of its time in the Midwest. External renovations included upgrading 1,900 windows to make them more energy efficient and J.F. Cook Co., Inc. was hired to do this distinguished work. This project was completed in 2009.


MKE County Historical SocietyMilwaukee County Historical Society
J.F. Cook Co., Inc. was involved in the restoration process of one of Downtown Milwaukee’s most recognizable landmarks – The beautiful Beaux Arts building which serves as the Historical Society’s home. Originally constructed to house the Second Ward Savings Bank, the building was designated a historic landmark in 1988. We proudly re-glazed & repainted each of the buildings 27 cast iron windows in 2005.

 


6th St. Viaduct6th Street Viaduct
The Sixth Street Viaduct project, regarded as a gateway to Milwaukee's near south side and the Menomonee River Valley, has also emerged as a link to new technology in bridge building. It is the state’s first cable-stayed bridge for vehicular traffic. J.F. Cook Co., Inc. provided the intricate windows for the bridge operator towers on this notable project.

 


Ivory Tusk

Ivory Tusk Building
The old Marshall Field's building at the corner of Wisconsin and Plankington avenues was one of Milwaukee's premier department stores for almost 100 years. The building was dormant for nearly two years before window renovation work began in the fall of 1999. The project consisted of removing and replacing over 1000 custom aluminum windows that would meet the standards of the National Park Service. This historic building is one of Milwaukee's outstanding landmarks.


DeMattia GroupThe Mayer Building Window Project
This striking historic building located at the corner of St. Paul Ave. and Water St. is located in the Third Ward District and was the former home of the F. Mayer Boot & Shoe Company built in 1910. In 1921, the firm was producing over 12,500 pair of shoes daily in this impressive building.

The J.F. Cook Co., Inc. was chosen to replace over 250 windows to match the architecturally distinctive white terra cotta exterior. The specially designed windows were supplied by the TRACO window company, a leader in the manufacturing of aluminum windows and doors.


DeMattia GroupDeMattia Group
The J.F. Cook Co., Inc. installed the windows for the corprate headquarters of the DeMattia Group. The building is on the historic register and is one of Milwaukee's Landmarks located in the Third Ward District. The windows on the project were supplied by the TRACO window company, a leader in the manufacturing of aluminum windows and doors.

Lapham HallUWM Lapham Hall
Lapham Hall at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee under went a major building renovation. The project consisted of a complete interior upgrade along with the removal and replacement of the single glazed windows.

The J.F. Cook Co., Inc. was chosen to come up with a window system that would meet the energy requirements of the project. The fixed window units consisted of a bronze tinted glass and a Low E coating for maximum thermal efficiency.


War MemorialThe War Memorial
The War Memorial located at Wisconsin Ave. and Lake Drive was built in 1957 and is one of Milwaukee's most well known landmarks. The War Memorial went through a major renovation to upgrade the exterior window system. The plan was to exactly match the existing sightlines with a new highly efficient aluminum window and glass system. The project was successfully completed in 1999.

 


Grain ExchangeThe Grain Exchange
Until recently, the Grain Exchange Building was used as commercial office space and was conveniently located in central downtown Milwaukee. With a growing demand for loft space, the buildng has gone through a major renovation converting the old structure, built in the early 1900's, to modern residential living units with underground parking.

The J.F. Cook Co., Inc. was chosen to replace over 300 windows and patio doors to complement the existing brick exterior. The specially designed windows were supplied by the TRACO window company, a leader in the manufacturing of aluminum windows and doors.
